I’m trying out a new simple still subject this year! My former coworker got the most amazing results with her students, and I’m giving it a try here in Oklahoma!
This Surrealism inspired landscape collage is one of my favorite back to school units. I like that it’s inexpensive to teach while making so many art history connections.
I have taken a beautiful and selfish break from Instagram and YouTube this summer. I just remembered I filmed a couple “summer” videos right at end of the school year so I wouldn’t have to film at all this summer.🤣 #thinkingahead
Last sculpture of the school year! My beginning 3D student embraced plaster carving right up until the last day of school.
If you are looking for a fun and inexpensive lesson for the end of the year, soap carving has been a win in my 3D classes. Last semester we focused on organic abstraction, and this semester they explored whatever subject matter they wanted. Some students created really expressive faces which inspired me to carve my own zombie face!
As usual, my Art II students (a mix of 10-12th) knocked it out of the park with our mannequin drawing studies. Watercolor added just the right amount of fun to the more tedious task of studying proportion and movement.
